I am never so scared, except in my dreams!

by Anny
(Delhi, India)

Such dreams have been coming up very frequently now and that is disturbing me. My dream starts off like everything is normal. I am usually in my house, and everything around is just as it is in reality.

And I feel like I am awake and this all is happening for real. But slowly strange things start happening and I realise that, wait.. It's a dream! I get so f------ scared!

And suddenly my body gets locked up and I want to, but I can't shout for help. I so badly try to escape that situation. I feel like some very strong feeling takes over me.. I try to get over it to wake up!

And finally when I wake up, there is this strong vibration that comes through out my body.. and I end up in Panic!

Kevin: Hi Anny, thanks for writing in and sharing this. Actually, what you describe does not sound like a normal dream one experiences during sleep, but rather an episode of sleep paralysis that you experience right when you wake up. Being unable to move or scream, the strong feeling coming over you, and even the vibrations at the end--all textbook symptoms of a sleep paralysis episode. You can learn a lot more about sleep paralysis here.

I also just recently started reading a wonderfully insightful e-book about how to not only stop sleep paralysis and the terror that can accompany it from happening to you, but to even use episodes as enlightening experiences in personal growth. The book is written by a man named Ryan Hurd, and you can get more info on it and download it here.

Best wishes in your quest to find peace in SP,
Kevin

I have had similar dreams!

I read your story and from experience, know what these types of dreams can do. They almost feel real and it makes you question the very nature of what a dream is. The feeling of wanting so badly to shout for help and nothing comes out or when you try to run away but your legs are in slow motion and you cant get away fast enough. Even when the dreams over it still seems like the dream was reality and you lived it for a short while. The key thing to know about having these dreams constantly is that sooner or later you have to force yourself to overcome it. Even if it means getting prepared before you go to sleep and when the dream comes, start to realise that this is a dream and you are sleeping. Nothing can hurt you if its just a dream. Try to think about the situation when you are in it. If you're scared, the experience will only become worse.

I have experienced this for 6 years NEW
by: Anonymous

I know exactly what you are going through and it is terrible. You get a very heavy feeling can't move can't scream,I get moved around sometimes and contorted. I thought that it was the devil or something I was getting it contiuneiously..... I never read up on it and have made my own way to deal with it as sometimes I'm in extreme pain. This is going to sound weird and it's embarrassing to say but..... I put a sexual spin on it
I know it sounds messed up but it's the only way I have been able to control it and wake up sooner. So once you feel it set in start thinking of who it is and what you would like them to do to u, as this is common in dreams whenever it starts to get good you wake up. I don't wake up straight away but it is sooner and I don't wake up so stressed but more in control. I hope this has helped you, I'm no longer scared I'm going crazy so hopefully this can help you.

So this has been happening to me for 5-8 years now. I am dreaming ok? Then when things are going on perfectly, suddenly I teleport somewhere else with only my phone and that somewhere is either somewhere scary or random. And I would try to call but suddenly the phone changes into another abject then I get lost and frightened and anxious and I wake up being scared. Sometimes my family member would die in that dream too.

Please if anyone can help me I would be very thankful cuz I am always scared to death by those dreams so please I
